During the last year of my studying abroad in Paris, I took an inexpensive English class managed by the city of Paris because I felt the necessity of English. Any one who participated in the two hour class twice a week well and passed the aptitude test as a final could get a diploma. Before the test, 50 questions were presented in the distributed practice problem sets for oral test.
From a megaphone, questions are heard through an American’s natural voice, and those are just the 12 questions out of the 50 ones. The sound of the 12 English questions for the oral test which can be looked stupid was manufactured like a language tape using American English pronunciation. The test produces a tense atmosphere similar to the feeling during the listening tests in my school days.
The questions dealing with somewhat light topics induce various answers to spectators. Three clocks which indicate different time respectively are not related to a particular area, which is in collusion with the circumstances using many nations’ clocks to emphasize “internationality”.
